Spring is a season of renewal, growth, and celebration. Our spring camp brings children an immersive experience in Chinese language, culture, and traditions, using hands-on activities, storytelling, and interactive learning. This year’s theme is “A Joyful Rain in Spring” (春夜喜雨), inspired by Du Fu’s famous poem, highlighting the beauty of nature and its connection to Chinese culture.

  • Theme:

    Qingming Festival, also known as Tomb-Sweeping Day, is a time to honor ancestors and appreciate the beauty of spring. During camp, students will:

    • Learn about Qingming traditions through storytelling and hands-on crafts.

    • Make and taste Qingming Festival foods, such as Qing Tuan (green mochi).

    • Understand how this festival connects to nature, respect, and remembrance.

    Activities:

    古诗学习 Chinese Poem Learning:

    • Recite and appreciate Du Fu’s classic poem, 春夜喜雨, about spring rain and renewal.

    • Create Chinese calligraphy and ink wash paintings inspired by the poem.

    • Engage in rain-themed storytelling, sensory activities, and art exploration.

    桃花折扇 Traditional Chinese Fan Peach Blossom Painting:

    • Paint beautiful peach blossom designs on traditional folding fans.

    • Learn about the symbolism of peach blossoms in Chinese culture.

    大自然植物染布 Color Play with Flower and Plant Dye:

    绘制风筝 Kite Designing, Crafting, and Flying:

    • Create and decorate traditional Chinese kites with raindrop and floral themes.

    五彩饭团 5-Color Healthy Rice Ball Cooking Activity:

    • Make delicious, naturally colored 五彩饭团 using healthy ingredients.
