Fall After School Program: San Mateo
Thoughtfully crafted for K-5th Grade students on the Peninsula with enriched, project-based, all Chinese immersion Chinese program and specialists’ enrichment classes. Students will be divided by age and proficiency into Chinese 1 and Chinese 2 classrooms to keep a low student-teacher ratio. As student enrollment grow, Chinese 3 classroom will be added when there are over 24 students per day to keep a low student teacher ratio. Registration fee, books, workbooks, materials and snacks included in the tuition.

No class: September 2 (Labor Day), October 14 (Columbus Day), November 11 (Veteran’s Day), November 25-29 (Fall Break Week), December 23-January 3 (Winter Break), January 20 (Martin Luther King Day), February 17 (Presidents’ Day), May 26 (Memorial Day). Day Camp may be available on School Break Days when 5 students request for it.

Tuition is calculated monthly for the whole school year of 9 months. There is a 5% discount when you pay by the school year of 9 months by Zelle, Venmo or Check. Siblings get a 5% discount.
Early care (12:30pm to 3:00pm) rate is $25 per day. Please book at least 3 days in advance! Last minute drop-in rate will be $30 per day.
Students that enroll 4-5 days: one day per week complimentary early care included (starting 12:30 pm.)
Early Care Monthly Rate (if your school regularly dismisses from noon to 1:30 pm): $310

Our one-stop enrichment program offers Chinese lessons and cultural activities in Chinese taught by specialists every week:
每日高品质中文课: Quality Chinese lessons every day led by experienced instructors.
每周招牌中文手工坊: Chinese Maker Faire taught by Ms. Olivia Dong, former Chinese teacher and current site director.
每周精选书画课: Calligraphy & Brush painting classes inspired by our Chinese class content.
每周创意艺术课: Visual Art classes directly related to the Chinese class.
每周小小厨师烹饪课: Cooking lesson that teaches young learners how to make healthy Chinese food.
每周新加坡数学课: Singapore Math that meets the needs of students from different grade levels.

For students who are beginners or who are not able to practice Chinese outside of class, we highly recommend attending at least 3-5 days per week to get adequate amount of exposure to reach learning objectives and foster fluency!

Meet our teachers and specialists!
Ms. Olivia Dong: Site Director, Curriculum Counselor, San Mateo
Ms. Dong started teaching from early childhood education in the United States. She holds a state teaching permit and site supervisor permit and has been teaching K-12 in school districts and private schools over 10 years. She also finished her special training in dual languages education and teaching Chinese as a foreign language and holds the language teaching certificates. Ms. Olivia got awarded as an excellent Mandarin Teacher in the Bay Area and led students' teams to participate in the biggest Mandarin Speech contest and performed in communities for many years. She is also a certificated guest teacher to work with children with special needs.
Ms. Xinru Ni: Chinese Teacher, San Mateo
Meet Ms. Ni, an esteemed educator holding a master's degree in language teaching from Chico State University. With a fervent passion for language pedagogy, she dedicates herself to crafting enriching Chinese lessons that are as engaging as they are effective. Ms. Ni believes in fostering interactive classroom environments where every student receives personalized support, empowering them to achieve linguistic fluency, cultural insight, and critical thinking skills in the realm of Chinese language education. Join Ms. Ni on a journey of exploration and discovery, where learning transcends boundaries and possibilities flourish.
Ms. Angela Lim: Art Specialist, San Mateo
Ms. Lim is excited to return as an art specialist this year to teach both visual art and Chinese calligraphy & brush painting! She graduated from the Academy of Art University in Sculpture and Painting & Drawing. She was included in many solo and group exhibitions all over the U.S. She was a SECA finalist (San Francisco Museum of Modern Art) and the recipient of the Bay Area Award. She has been a lecturer at the M.H. de Young Memorial Museum, U.C. Davis, California College of Arts & Crafts, etc. She loves to share her love and passion in Art with IB students! She could hardly wait to witness their amazing creativity and growth again this semester!
Ms. Xinjia Zhang: STEM Specialist, San Mateo
Ms. Zhang started as a teaching assistant at Immersive Beijing last school year. She is finishing her Masters in Computer Science at Northeastern University this year. She teaches Junior Chef, Science and Singapore Math this Fall. She believes that cooking is a great way for young kids to explore science and different cultures. She loves that math is the language of the universe and is very excited to help students discover its magic and show them it can be fun and exciting!
